Islam is the most
applicable religion of the modern times. The religion that emerged almost 1400
years ago and stills it is unfamiliar but followed by most people called
Muslim. Fasting is the third constituent of Islam. Ramadan is the ninth month
of Islamic calendar in which Muslims fasts in the daylight and prays in the
night time. It’s the month of blessing for Muslims. Famous and biggest event of
Muslims. Just like Muslims every other religion has its very own way of
fasting. Let’s talk about Buddhist. Buddhist monks and nuns following the Vinaya rules commonly do not eat each day after the noon meal. This is not considered a fast but
rather a disciplined regimen aiding in meditation and good health.
Vinaya and Doctrine are two broad
categories for Buddhist discipline. The teaching of Gautama Buddha’s are
divided into these two types.
In Christianity the acceptable fast is discussed in the biblical Book
of Isaiah. Acceptable fast is not just merely abstinence from food and
water but to obey proper God’s command. Hinduism has also own ways of fasting
some of Hindus fast on certain days of week to set aside depending on personal
believe and favourite deity.
In Islam a proper month is
selected to fast authentically. The time set for that to from Fajr to Maghreb.
In this time Muslims are prohibited from food water and other heart desires as
well sexual relationships. It is one of the most important acts of Islamic worshipping. A whole month for fasting; technically it is to reset oneself. When
whole month the routine of an individual changes and alters as per God’s
command so it is the biggest chance for a Muslim to get over all bad habits and
take a start again like a new born baby. Fasting is more than just abstaining
form food and water. Somehow it is the source to bring change into the psyche
as well as other system of body if all the parameters perform accordingly.
